Ross Howe was born and has spent much of his life in the East Bay Area.   He graduated from the California Jazz Conservatory with BM performance degree in Jazz Studies, and is an active studio and gigging musician in the Bay Area as well as private instructor and composer.  He has been lucky enough to study, preform and record with some of the bay area's most innovative jazz artists and is currently a regular member of many of the gypsy jazz ensembles in and around the San Francisco Bay Area but mainly leads his own band The Yacht Club of Paris.

Ross grew up in the Bay Area and was heavily influenced by the Bay Area's vibrant local music scene.  And in his early 20's he discovered the music of Django Reinhardt and fell in love with Django's music. Ross started out playing Piano at the age of 8 and then turned to cello at 11 and by the time he turned 12 he had begun to play guitar and has been in love with it ever since.  His playing incorporates elements of the classical tradition with the vocabulary of modern jazz, and modern Jazz Manouche music, all the while maintaining a clear respect of the jazz guitar tradition and it's forefathers, particularly the immortal Django Reinhardt.

Ross has written songs chosen for Gigtown Radio's "Song of the Week" and was named "Jazz in the Neighboorhoods "Rising Star" in 2015.  When not composing, playing or teaching guitar, Ross spends as much time as possible surfing and racing sailboats.  All in all Ross tries to breathe a bit of fresh air into the art of  improvised music through contemporary aesthetics that I hope you find refreshing.
